Thought of the Day

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."-John Calvin Coolidge

How to get people to sign up for your email list

Yesterday, I published a guide on creating autoresponder letters and today I received this message from Allyn Cutts of the Cutts Group, llc. Since this sounds like a sequel to my post, I decided to use it as such and without editing. Enjoy!

"With online businesses, it is important for you to understand how to get people to sign up for your email list in order to reach your target market.

You can create a sign up page where you can compile the mailing list and also explain to the subscribers in detail the advantages they will get.

-->> You should make sure that the sign up procedure is easy and avoid asking too much information like phone numbers and addresses. The less information you ask from the subscribers that more likely they will sign up for your email list. You can ask for the first names so that you can personalize each email that you send out.

Another way to get people to sign up is by offering g…

A Brief Guide to Creating an AutoResponder Letter

Check my main TrafficWave.net affiliate site
This blog post is based on a guide I received from TrafficWave.net as part of my subscription to its autoresponder services.

What is an AutoResponder?
An AutoResponder is a means for online marketers to automate repetitive sales tasks, build and manage multiple prospect lists, and send out regular articles, updates, and announcements. A marketer can also use it to automate the process of list building, follow up with prospects, and close more sales.

How to build a list of targeted prospects
To build a list of targeted prospects, the first step is to create 5 to 7 messages about your offer (product, service, or opportunity) and add them to your AutoResponder Campaign. You may set them to go out every 2 days.
(N.B.: The average number of messages for successful marketers is 5 to 9. However you may use more letters or less, depending on your need.)

Thought of the Day

"A leader is someone who is ahead of the pack. Even if it is only by one inch. They are doing, or have done, what they want or expect others to do. They are not watchers nor do they wait around. They take action...proper action....a lot of proper action! And they never give up!"

Should Failures be the End of our Dreams?

Image
Today I set out to write a post about how our failures should fuel our determination to succeed instead of discouraging us into abandoning our dreams. But going through my Thoughts of the Day to look for quotes to sprinkle throughout the text, I found myself laden with quite a number of them. The only alternative then use them all with minimal comments.
Failure is a stimulant
Failure is indisputably a part of life. A very conspicuous part anyway. But what should be paramount in our minds is summed up in this African Ewe-Ge-Mina (my ethnic group) proverb: “Don’t turn where you fell into a bed.” This is what some great thinkers are also telling us:
“Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.” - Dale Carnegie
“Failure is success if we learn from it.” ~ Malcolm Forbes
"Don't be afraid to fail. Don't waste energy trying to cover up failure. Learn from your failures and go on to the next challenge. It's OK to fail.…

Thought of the Day

"The common conception is that motivation leads to action, but the reverse is true - action precedes motivation. You have to 'prime the pump' and get the juices flowing, which motivates you to work on your goals. Getting momentum going is the most difficult part of the job, and often taking the first step...is enough to prompt you to make the best of your day." -Robert J. McKain

How similar are Blog Visitors and Followers and a Business’ Clientele?

Staring at the photos this morning of some of my 260 blog followers on Google+ who make me feel real good, I had the idea to dedicate a special thought to them. “Why?” one may ask. It was while searching for the answer that the idea occurred to me how similar blog visitors and followers and a business’ clientele were.
First, let’s look at how useful clients are to a business.
They let the business owner feel good
Imagine opening a shop and seeing not even a fly buzz in? You’d feel the most unwanted person in the world. So, clients let the business owner feel good since they don’t let him have the impression that his brainchild is not appreciated. I should know because I’ve kept a shop before!
A business needs clients to survive
Second, a business needs clients to survive. This is obvious because no sales, no business. And it’s the clients who bring the money. Some people think that it is the advertising. No. otherwise we would never talk of failed advertising. That technique only tells cli…

Blogging is Easy

More and more and day after day I find myself questioning the thoughtless use of the word “easy” to qualify online or home business jobs or anything to do with them.
Let’s take my today’s tasks for instance.
I slept towards 3 am this morning after working on my computer businesses all day yesterday. I set my cell phone’s alarm at 6 am, knowing fully well that it wasn’t realistic. When I managed to get up at 8, I wondered if the alarm had gone off at all and if it had whether it was I or my wife who had put it off. She was still sleeping so I shrugged and went into the living room where I work.
Crazy as it might seem, I find myself running four blogs (“It’s easy to make money at home” on blogger and three others with Fanbox, Empower Network and IMGlobal on wordpress), with three others in the offing (Blogging with John Chow, GVO and About me).
In effect I had myself signed up for the blogger.com blog. Once when I realized someone on the swom.com social site kept four blogs, I asked him ho…

What are the Four Important Parts of a Blog Post?

Although this post is based on information from one of the Empower Network Core Commitments labelled Blog Daily, I think the details are true for any blog post.
1. The Title
The title is what your post is about. It should be a short sentence. Anyone reading it should have an idea what the post is about. Avoid using All CAPS and avoid using special characters such as - * % @ etc.; this will create a poor permalink.
2. The Body
The best length for a blog post is 500-700 words. This is supposed to be the maximum attention span of most blog readers.
The body of a blog should have short paragraphs, quotes, and be sprinkled with the site’s keywords. Use the blog platform’s editing options to bold, italicize and make your post visually appealing.
Talking of appeal, one should also add photos or a video, if possible from YouTube that helps the blogger to make their point clearer. Don’t forget to give credit if the photo, video is coming from a source other than yours.
If you are taking your post …
