Learn as if you were to live forever,” by Mahatma Gandhi is similar to a French proverb “Prier comme si tout dépendait de Dieu et travailler comme si tout dépendait de toi” meaning “Pray as if everything depended on God and work as if everything depended on you” and not different from a Russian proverb “Pray to God, but keep rowing to shore!” the lesson we learn from here is that we must not depend solely on ourselves neither totally on others.
